Until now, the occupiers have actively used Starlinks not only on drones, but also for regular military communications.

Russian occupiers have experienced a shutdown of their Starlink satellite communications terminals across the entire front . This is being reported en masse by Russian military-related bloggers on their Telegram channels.

“Starlinks have fallen off the entire front. So much for the vaunted American communications… Well, back to alternative communications then. Elon Musk is [expletive],” writes blogger “Thirteenth.”

Blogger Alex Parker Returns summed it up simply: “It’s over.”

“Starlinks were down all along the front. The enemy had them too,” writes Vladimir Romanov.

His colleague in the Z-camp, Kirill Fedorov, notes that Ukrainians will soon switch to “white lists” of terminals approved for operation, but Russians “have to come up with something” because “there are no equivalents.”

“Regarding reports of mass outages of Starlink terminals along the entire front line and in border areas, there is simply no alternative to this satellite internet in the Russian Armed Forces, and much, including combat command and control, was tied to it and taken for granted,” notes “Military Observer.”

A senior lieutenant in the Ukrainian Defense Forces, call sign “Alex,” who blogs on Telegram, confirms that Starlink restrictions may also apply to Ukrainian military personnel who haven’t yet whitelisted their terminals.

“Starlinks are generally working, but some users are experiencing terminal outages. Frankly, there are no clear statistics, as even some Starlinks that were submitted [for whitelisting] were signed, while those that weren’t submitted continue to function. So we’re registering the satellites and waiting a few days to see if they’re working.”

Advisor to the Ukrainian Minister of Defense, volunteer, and blogger Serhiy Sternenko predicts big problems for the Russians after the “enemy” communications are cut off.

“The enemy is reporting a massive Starlink outage among Russian units on the front. If this is true, the Ukrainian army will regain its communications advantage, while the enemy will have a number of problems with tactical troop control,” he writes  .

Starlink Blocking

As UNAN reported, in late January, amid the increasing use of Starlink terminals in Russian attack drones, SpaceX began implementing a series of measures to cut off Russians from this satellite connection. Initially, they implemented a solution that blocked the terminal if it moved at speeds exceeding 90 km/h. This eliminated the possibility of using Starlink on drones.

Later, Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced that a “white list” of Starlink terminals would be created in Ukraine . Only terminals on this list would be allowed to operate in Ukraine. Military and civilian personnel were instructed on how to add their terminals to this list.

  1. “including combat command”,”tactical troop control,” – do they really need Starlink when the commands are “bum rush them you orcs, or die”…
