They plan to withdraw 800 American troops from Romania, and some forces from Bulgaria, Hungary, and Slovakia.

The United States plans to reduce its military contingents in several Eastern European countries at once, including Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Slovakia. This was reported by the Romanian portal G4Media, citing government sources.

According to sources, on October 27, NATO announced through official channels the decision to withdraw approximately 800 troops from Romania. This decision was made by the White House and has already gone into effect, although the US Congress can still formally review it.

American troops are currently stationed at the Mihail Koghelniceanu, Deveselu, and Cimpia-Turzii bases. It is not yet known which base will begin the drawdown. There are approximately 1,000 American troops in Romania.

The publication’s sources note that Washington’s decision is unrelated to the domestic political situation in Romania, particularly the recent annulment of the presidential election results, which were won by a far-right candidate. American troops are also planned to be withdrawn from Hungary, indicating a broader strategic review.

The Romanian publication notes that the reduction will affect three more countries – Bulgaria, Hungary, and Slovakia – but the exact timing, scale, and logistical details of the operation have not yet been disclosed.
