The head of the company claims that the restrictions were lifted after Lukashenko’s negotiations with the American delegation.

The United States has lifted restrictions that for years prevented Belarusian airline Belavia from doing business with American aviation giant Boeing , the Belarusian state news agency Belta reports .

This news was announced by Belavia CEO Igor Cherginets. According to him, the relevant permit was issued by the US Department of Commerce on October 31. Cherginets explained that from now on, the company can purchase spare parts, components and software for aircraft that it already has in its fleet.

In addition, according to the head, this decision will “open the way” to negotiations on the possible purchase of new Boeing airliners. According to open data, the carrier’s fleet consists of 18 airliners, including Boeing, Embraer and Airbus models.

As the head of Belavia said, Washington was gradually moving towards this step. Previously, a similar permit was granted by the US Treasury Department, which technically enabled the carrier to cooperate directly with Boeing. And a year ago, the US government, according to him, lifted all political sanctions from the airline.

Cherginets is convinced that such decisions became possible after negotiations between the self-proclaimed President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, and the United States delegation.

Works for Russia

Recall that in Belarus, the Smorgon Optical Machine Tool Plant works for the Russian military-industrial complex. According to BELPOL investigators, the company supplies and modernizes machine tools for Russian factories that manufacture thermal imagers, optical sights, and homing heads for missiles, and one of the partners of the GUR plant is a participant in the production of Su-57 fighters. Despite this, the Smorgon plant has not yet been subject to sanctions.
