Earlier, the Minister of Finance announced a significant tightening of sanctions.

The United States is imposing new sanctions against the Russian Federation. These sanctions will affect the Russian companies Rosneft and Lukoil.
This was reported on the website of the US Department of the Treasury.
It is noted that the restrictions are being imposed due to Russia’s lack of serious commitment to the peace process to end the war in Ukraine.
“Now is the time to stop the killing and declare an immediate ceasefire. Given President Putin’s refusal to end this senseless war, the Treasury Department is imposing sanctions on two of Russia’s largest oil companies, which are funding the Kremlin’s war machine.
The Treasury Department stands ready to take additional measures if necessary to support President Trump’s efforts to end another war.
We call on our allies to join us in enforcing these sanctions,” said US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
It is noted that, in addition to Rosneft and Lukoil, the sanctions will affect companies that are directly or indirectly 50% or more owned by these giants, even if they are not directly included on the sanctions list. This applies to 28 Rosneft subsidiaries and six Lukoil subsidiaries.

Trump will phone Putin if he agrees with these sanctions…………..
I believe I read somewhere that the Kremlin was notified of the new sanctions.
Is TACO finally pissed with Putler, or will he be taking another urgent phone call tomorrow?
This is from the US Treasury website
“Given President Putin’s refusal to end this senseless war, Treasury is sanctioning Russia’s two largest oil companies that fund the Kremlin’s war machine. Treasury is prepared to take further action if necessary to support President Trump’s effort to end yet another war. We encourage our allies to join us in and adhere to these sanctions.”
What allies? The EU have imposed two sanction packages while TACO has been kissing putler’s ring.
It looks like Trump has finally seen the light and given up the mediator role. It also looks like I’m finally vindicated, and those that hate Trump more than they love Ukraine and said Trump is a ruSSian agent and would never help Ukraine….should be a man, apologize for dividing people and move forward being fair if they want to get their credibility back…:)
Slava Ukraini~~!!
This half-assed measure if he doesn’t taco, doesn’t vindicate anything Sir Red.
Sure it does. Finally Trump has directly applied sanctions on Putler. That vindicates everything I’ve been saying and its good news for anyone supporting Ukraine. Like I said, if you love Ukraine more than you hate Trump, this is a great move. Also, the journos in Ukraine are very happy with this move and so should we be.
Slava Ukraini~~!!
There are no teeth to the watered down version he’s implementing if taco follows through at all. I do love Ukraine, and I’m majorly pissed off at what Trump has done and ot done with Ukraine. Also furious at what he has done and intends to do to the United States of America and it’s citizens as well as those that aspire to be so.

If my love for my country in your mind amounts to TDS, so be it.
Taco never sees the light. Taco is insane, evil, and has the lowest IQ of any previous POTUS.
These new sanctions are great for Ukraine and those that love Ukraine.
I wish they were as strong as everyone thinks they are, but it’s a start.
“We call on our allies to join us in enforcing these sanctions”
The UK announced sanctions against Rosneft and Lukoil over a week ago.

This measure is by far not enough. After the usual phone call with the war criminal, taco will taco out again.
It seems like trumpkov was reluctantly forced into taking minimal action.
From Prof. Heather Cox Richardson:
[…] Treasury Department sanctions against Russia’s two largest oil companies, which suggest the administration feels it can no longer entirely ignore Republican senators. As Hans Nichols and Stef W. Kight of Axios recalled yesterday, bipartisan majorities in the Senate have been demanding sanctions since July, when Trump put them off by saying he would impose sanctions in 50 days if Russia’s president Vladimir Putin didn’t end his war in Ukraine. Then, in August, Trump invited Putin to Alaska, and Senate Republicans backed off to give the president room to negotiate.
Last week, Senate majority leader John Thune (R-SD) signaled he was ready to move forward, and lawmakers and aides told the press the Senate Foreign Relations Committee would pass three bills to increase pressure on Russia. One would label Russia a state sponsor of terrorism, one would impose economic penalties on China for its support of Russia, and the third would transfer Russian assets frozen in the U.S. to Ukraine.
Today the administration announced its own, much more limited, sanctions.
