The Hague is strengthening the defense of Rzeszow to ensure the safe supply of weapons to Ukraine.

The Netherlands has deployed Patriot and NASAMS air defense systems to Poland to strengthen the defense of the NATO logistics hub in Rzeszów, the main hub for military aid to Ukraine, the Dutch Ministry of Defense announced .

The deployment began on December 1 and will last until June 1, 2025. Two Patriot systems, one NASAMS, and approximately 300 troops have been deployed to Poland. The unit is integrated and also includes counter-drone systems, providing multi-layered countermeasures against potential threats—from ballistic and cruise missiles to drones, helicopters, and fighter aircraft.

The issue concerns the protection of the NSATU (NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine) center, which coordinates allied arms supplies and the training of Ukrainian troops. A significant portion of the weapons supplied to Ukraine passes through Rzeszów.

The Hague emphasized that the mission is aimed at three key objectives:

  • protection of NATO territory;
  • containing Russian aggression;
  • guaranteeing stable military support for Ukraine.

The Netherlands also announced the purchase of 100 drone detection radars from Robin Radar, a technology already proven in the war in Ukraine.
