Putin’s press secretary, Peskov, commented on the updated document.

The updated US national security strategy largely aligns with Moscow’s vision, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov told Russian journalists.

“The current administration is fundamentally different from previous ones, and, of course, now President Trump (Donald Trump is the US President – ed.) is strong in terms of domestic political positions, and this gives him the opportunity to adjust the concept in accordance with his vision,” he said.

The Kremlin spokesman noted that the adjustments he observed “are largely consistent with our vision.”

“And perhaps one can hope that this could be a modest guarantee that we will be able to constructively continue our joint work on finding a peaceful settlement in Ukraine,” he said.Read also:

Peskov also spoke about the “wording against confrontation and in favor of dialogue” and “building new relationships” in the strategy.

“This is what Putin is talking about. It’s certainly encouraging, on the one hand, but on the other, we know what happens when everything is conceptually beautifully written, but what they call the deep state does everything differently. That happens, too. Therefore, we need to closely monitor how this concept is implemented,” he added.

The United States has updated its national security strategy.

As UNIAN previously reported, in its updated National Security Strategy, the United States declared ending the war in Ukraine its “primary interest.” The new document also identifies restoring strategic stability with Russia as a top priority in Europe. The United States also stated that NATO should not be perceived as an “ever-expanding alliance.” The strategy also states that European states must assume greater responsibility for their own defense, and that the US administration is “in conflict” with European officials whose governments demonstrate “unrealistic expectations” and undermine democratic processes.

Italian political scientist Natalie Tocci believes the new strategy means the United States is becoming Russia’s ally in its aggression against Europe. She believes the US president dreams of joining Putin in “divide and conquer” the European continent, entrusting much of the “dirty work” to nationalist, far-right European forces supported by both Moscow and Washington.
