On the night of October 2, the Russian army launched a drone strike on Odessa , hitting a railway depot and wounding a train driver.

As an UNIAN correspondent reports, an airstrike was declared in the Odessa region at approximately 2 a.m. Some time later, explosions, etc. were heard in various areas of the regional center. Local residents reported seeing a “big fire.”

In the morning, Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine – Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba stated that the enemy attacked, in particular, Ukrzaliznytsia.

“Another difficult night for Ukraine. Massive strikes on Odessa and the region, in the Kyiv region – dozens of drones on peaceful settlements. The enemy is also striking in the Dnipropetrovsk region and Zaporizhia,” he wrote on Telegram.Read also:

According to him, last night the Russians launched a massive shelling on the Ukrzaliznytsia depot in Odessa. As a result, the train driver received shrapnel wounds and is currently receiving all necessary assistance.

The official also noted that there were strikes on the railway infrastructure of border communities in the north, in particular in Konotop. Trains stopped at a safe distance from the affected area, as of this morning – all continued their movement, the contact network was restored.

According to Kuleba, due to the attack, some trains in the Chernihiv and Sumy directions are delayed.

According to the press service of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in the Odessa region, the impact caused a fire that has already been extinguished. In addition to the depot, the roof and glazing of a private residential building were damaged. According to rescuers, two people were injured – a man in the depot and a person in a private house. 

More than fifty rescuers extinguished the fire, and more than ten pieces of special equipment were involved.
