The failed attempt to assassinate Denis Kapustin, commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps ( RVC ), will result in major problems for Russian generals and a search for those responsible. This was stated by Ivan Tymochko, Chairman of the Council of Reserves of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on Kyiv24 .
“While we were spreading disinformation about his ‘death,’ the Russian leadership was receiving ‘confirmation’ that we ourselves were feeding them. Now, someone in the Kremlin will definitely be held accountable for this insignificant failure—and it will be people at the level of generals,” he said.
Timochko emphasized that this story once again demonstrates the weakness of the Russian intelligence services and the depth of problems within the command system. He also shared that Russian intelligence had deployed a whole chain of command, including specialists and executives, in this operation.
“And this information traveled along this chain, so to speak, up and down… Our intelligence agencies monitored to ensure this ‘information’ fell into the right hands,” Timochko added.
According to the Chairman of the Council of Reserves of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russians are prepared to spend colossal sums on such contract killings and sabotage.
