The Russian port of Primorsk on the Baltic Sea, through which more than a quarter of all Russian oil sold abroad is exported, has suspended shipments due to an attack by a Ukrainian drone.

Reuters reports this , citing sources familiar with the situation.
Primorsk has the capacity to load about 1 million barrels of crude oil per day, making it a key export hub for Russian oil and the largest port in western Russia. The port loads Russia’s flagship Urals oil, as well as about 300,000 barrels of diesel fuel per day.
According to sources, the drone strike caused a fire on two Aframax tankers with a capacity of 700,000 barrels each – the Kusto and the Cai Yun . Both are registered in the Seychelles.
This is the first drone strike on one of Russia’s largest oil and fuel export terminals , Reuters notes .
The Russian governor of the region, Alexander Drozdenko, confirmed that a ship and a pumping station had caught fire in the drone attack, but did not report any suspension of operations. Drozdenko later said that the fire had been extinguished and that there was no risk of an oil spill. He added that more than 30 drones had been destroyed over the region.
Other Russian ports, including neighboring Ust-Luga and the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, have been repeatedly targeted by Ukraine in recent months .
Russian oil exports are already limited because the port of Ust-Luga has not yet fully restored its capacity after a drone attack in August. The port is operating at half capacity this month.
Primorsk is located near St. Petersburg, where Pulkovo Airport briefly suspended operations. The Russian military reported intercepting 221 Ukrainian drones overnight.
As a reminder, on the night of September 12, more than 30 Ukrainian drones attacked the Leningrad Region. The port of Primorsk , the largest oil hub in the Russian Federation, was hit .
It also became known that world oil prices have increased significantly due to fears that Ukrainian drone attacks could disrupt the operation of two of Russia’s most important oil export hubs in the Baltic Sea.
