A Russian drone attack resulted in a fire in a train car.
Russia launched a drone strike on the Barvinkovo-Lviv-Chop passenger train in the Kharkiv region.
According to Oleksiy Kuleba , Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development , preliminary information indicates that the enemy attacked the rolling stock with three Shahed-type UAVs. The strikes hit the locomotive in front of it and a passenger car, causing a fire.
“There were 291 passengers on board. They were evacuated as quickly as possible. Currently, there are two injured people – they were evacuated by the train crew and later transferred to an ambulance. Both were hospitalized,” he said.
According to Kuleba, backup buses will be organized for evacuated passengers, as well as for those waiting at stations for return flights.
“We are coordinating on-site operations and providing assistance to passengers. All emergency services are on site: medics, rescuers, and the Ukrzaliznytsia team. The attack on the passenger train is a direct act of Russian terrorism against civilians. It had no military purpose,” the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

Updated: As a resultThree people were killed in the Russian attack on the train. Two people sought medical attention, according to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office .
“According to investigators, on January 27, near the village of Yazykovoe in the Barvinkovo territorial community of the Izyum district, Russian troops attacked a passenger train traveling from Chop to Kharkiv to Barvinkovo. Two hits were recorded near the train, and another hit a car. A fire broke out. There were more than 155 passengers on the train,” the statement reads.
