During a Russian missile and drone attack in the Black Sea, the German dry cargo ship Emil sustained significant damage, while in Ukraine, a Puma warehouse was damaged and the central warehouse of the German automotive chemicals manufacturer Liqui Moly was destroyed.

DW reported this on Thursday, according to Ukrinform.

The German bulk carrier Emil was struck by several Russian drones in the Black Sea near Odesa. This caused several technical systems to fail, rendering the ship unable to maneuver, and a fire broke out on board.

According to the publication, the attack took place on August 5, when the ship was about 21 nautical miles (approximately 39 km) from the port of Odesa.

It is also noted that another UAV struck the ship during the evacuation of the crew.

The bulk carrier Emil flies the Liberian flag but is owned by the Hamburg-based shipping company Johann M. K. Blumenthal.

It is added that the second vessel affected that day was the dry cargo ship Mera Queen, carrying grain and flying the flag of Guinea-Bissau.

Sports goods manufacturer Puma, without disclosing the exact location of its warehouse, confirmed that “Puma’s logistics center in Ukraine was attacked by ballistic missiles on the night of August 4.”

On the same day, a warehouse belonging to the German company Liqui Moly was destroyed in Kyiv. A company representative noted that rebuilding the warehouse is not currently being considered, and the company is working to “minimize the consequences of the incident and continue to ensure supplies” to its customers.

The publication adds that the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed strikes on two cargo ships, claiming that they were allegedly transporting “military equipment” for the Ukrainian army. The Russian Defense Ministry described the attack on civilian warehouses belonging to German companies as “a strike against logistics and distribution centers for military products in Kyiv and its environs.”

As reported by Ukrinform, property belonging to the Azerbaijani community in Kramatorsk was damaged by Russian shelling.
