One of the Russian attacks on Kyiv last week hit a drone manufacturing facility owned by Delaware-based Terminal Autonomy, an American corporation. According to The Guardian , this is the first time Russia has struck an American arms company.

The authors cited Russian state media reports that the factory that produced the AQ-400 Scythe and AQ-100 Bayonet drones was staffed by “specialists from a Ukrainian-American company.” According to the publication’s source, no one was killed in the attacks.

The publication noted that Terminal Autonomy produces high-precision drones for delivering “deep strikes” with guidance systems resistant to Russian jamming. As the name suggests, the company’s drones are equipped with artificial intelligence, which takes over control of the drone in the final phase of the attack. Therefore, in the event of radio interference or lack of mobile communication, the drone becomes fully autonomous, but completes the task to the end.

“We are using AI-guided, loitering munitions and precision-guided munitions that are already in active service against enemy targets on the front lines,” the company’s website says.

In a comment to reporters, former senior US intelligence official Anthony Vinci said that “the Russians don’t care who owns the production. It’s still a target. They don’t care if it’s American or someone else’s.” He added that if Ukraine began producing missiles for Patriot or any other American system, the Russian military would still strike such a target.
