This year, the Saratov refinery has already stopped twice.

The Saratov oil refinery in Russia has stopped processing oil after being damaged by a drone attack on Wednesday, Reuters reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The publication notes that yesterday, the governor of the Saratov region, Roman Busargin, reported that one person was killed and several others were injured as a result of a drone strike in the region. He also reported damage to “civilian industrial facilities,” without specifying what was being targeted. At the same time, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that a strike had been carried out near the Saratov oil refinery.

Reuters sources say the drones hit the 20,000 metric tons per day primary processing unit, KDU-6, the only such unit at the refinery.

Journalists also noted that the Saratov Oil Refinery stopped selling petroleum products on the St. Petersburg International Commodity Exchange.

As Reuters notes, the plant had already suspended operations after drone attacks in March and May.

The capacity of the Saratov refinery is about 5.8 million tons of oil, or 2.2% of the total oil refining volume in Russia.
