BREAKING NEWS: Russia officially recognized the Taliban regime in Afghanistan

Russia became the first country in the world to recognize the government of the Islamist Taliban movement in Afghanistan.

This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to DW .

“Moscow has officially recognized the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan,” Russian state news agency TASS reported, citing the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Reuters – also citing the Russian Foreign Ministry – writes that Moscow approved the credentials of the new Afghan ambassador and expressed hope for “new impulses” in the development of bilateral cooperation.

The Taliban flag has been flown over the Afghan embassy in Moscow for the first time since they seized power in 2021. TASS also reports, citing Russian Ambassador to Kabul Dmitry Zhirnov, that the decision to recognize the Taliban government was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the suggestion of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

The Taliban movement was designated a terrorist organization in the Russian Federation in 2003. In August 2021, the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of American troops from there. Since then, Taliban representatives have regularly visited Russia. Putin has called the movement an “ally” of Moscow in the fight against terrorism.

  1. “Putin has called the movement an “ally” of Moscow in the fight against terrorism.”

We now have terrorists allying with terrorists to fight terrorism. Only in mafia land could such an absurdity take place.

    • This isn’t good. The Moskali don’t do anything, for nothing. I wonder if the Taliban terrorists gave the Moskali some of the American weapons and equipment that Biden gave them?
