This is how the Ukrainian president responded to Russian lies about an alleged drone attack on Putin’s residence in Valdai.

The Russian Federation is preparing the ground for attacks on government buildings in Kyiv . According to a UNIAN correspondent, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this during an online briefing on WhatsApp.

Specifically, the head of state responded to journalists’ questions about his response to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s statement about an alleged “drone attack” on Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s residence in Valdai and Russia’s threats to strike corresponding Ukrainian targets.

“Another lie from the Russian Federation. It’s clear that we had a meeting with Trump yesterday. And it’s clear that for the ‘Russians’—if we don’t have a row with America, and we’re making progress—it’s a failure for them. Because they don’t want to end this war. They can only end it by putting pressure on them. And so, I’m sure, they were looking for reasons,” Zelenskyy said.

As the Ukrainian president added, he, frankly speaking, expected similar rhetoric from the Russian side yesterday.

“You see, they’re going further. Now, with their statement that some residence of theirs was attacked, I’m sure they’re simply preparing the ground for strikes, probably on the capital and probably on government buildings,” the president is convinced.

He recalled that something similar had already happened in September, when a missile attack occurred on the building of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

“Therefore, everyone needs to be vigilant now, absolutely everyone. A strike could hit the capital. Especially since this person—if you can even call him a person—said they would select appropriate targets, meaning they’re making threats,” Zelenskyy added.Read also:

The Ukrainian president expressed the opinion that US President Donald Trump and his team, as well as European partners, “need to step up and do the appropriate work with people who, just yesterday, were said to be desperate to end the war.”

Updated at 6:06 PM.  As Zelenskyy added on Telegram , these extremely dangerous statements from Russia are clearly aimed at undermining all the achievements of Ukraine’s joint work with President Trump’s team.

“We are working together to bring peace closer,” the president noted.

According to Zelensky, the Russians concocted this obviously false story to justify continuing attacks on Ukraine and refusing to take the necessary steps to end the war.

“Typical Russian deceitful tactics. Ukraine doesn’t take steps that could weaken diplomacy. Russia always does. This is one of the many things that distinguishes us,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

The President noted that it’s important for the world to speak up now. He emphasized that everything possible must be done to ensure that Russians don’t derail the movement toward peace.
