Ukrainian intelligence believes that in this way the Russians are intensifying their intimidation tactics.

On the night of May 19, Russia plans a “training and combat” launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile from the Yars strategic missile complex. This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine.

“In order to demonstratively pressure and intimidate Ukraine, as well as the EU and NATO member states, the aggressor state Russia intends to carry out a “training and combat” launch of an RS-24 intercontinental ballistic missile from the Yars complex on the night of May 19, 2025,” the report says.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, the missile with the “training ammunition” is to be launched by a mobile ground-based complex from the 433rd regiment of the 42nd division of the 31st army of the Strategic Missile Forces of the aggressor state. The launch is to be carried out from the area of ​​the Svobodny settlement in the Sverdlovsk region (administrative center – Yekaterinburg).

The GUR does not name the possible target of the strike, but notes that the flight range of the specified missile is over 10 thousand kilometers. Note that the direct distance from the launch site to the borders of Ukraine is about 1,700 kilometers.
