This poses a threat to the nuclear safety of all of Europe, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine emphasized.

Russian occupiers have struck a substation with three drones, which is critically important for the stable operation of the Khmelnytskyi NPP . This was stated by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal in his Telegram .

“Such actions pose a threat not only to Ukraine, but also to the nuclear security of all of Europe. This is a serious step of escalation, which we have informed the IAEA about,” Shmyhal emphasized.

He noted that he had met with ambassadors of the G7 and EU countries and informed them about the consequences of the massive shelling of Ukraine. According to Shmyhal, the Russian Federation used 289 drones, 17 ballistic and 59 cruise missiles. The key targets of the enemy attack were Ukrainian energy facilities. In addition to the substation that powers the Kherson Nuclear Power Plant, the enemy also attacked other substations of the electricity transmission and distribution systems.

“We expect an appropriate response from international partners to the further escalation of Russian attacks on the infrastructure that ensures the stable operation of Ukrainian nuclear power plants,” Shmyhal said.
