Bashar al-Assad was admitted to intensive care with symptoms of serious poisoning.

Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad , who is in hiding in Russia, likely survived severe poisoning. He was recently hospitalized with symptoms of poisoning, the New York Post reports .
According to the publication, on September 20, Assad was taken to the emergency room of a private hospital near Moscow. He was in critical condition and admitted to intensive care. He spent nine days in the hospital and was discharged after stabilization, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
“He was poisoned at home in a villa near Moscow, which is guarded by Russian authorities,” the article says.
It is noted that Assad’s movements are limited, but he has many visitors at his villa.
Syrian sources report that the reasons for the possible poisoning are still unknown and it cannot be said that there was actually a plan to get rid of Assad.
“Only the side that carried out the operation knows whether it was aimed at killing Bashar al-Assad or discrediting the Russian government,” the statement added.
The publication’s sources claim the Russian government had nothing to do with the poisoning. However, they speculate that “it could have been done to blame the Russian government” and demonstrate “that President Putin is incapable of protecting it.”
Russia has not officially commented on this issue.
How Bashar al-Assad lives in Russia
As a reminder, Assad fled Syria after the revolution last year and is hiding in Moscow with his family. Meanwhile, his wife, a British citizen, is reportedly negotiating a divorce and a move to London. She has filed a court order and is awaiting a decision.
Media outlets also report that Assad lives under strict restrictions , without the right to engage in public activity. His assets have been frozen.
Meanwhile, in Lebanon, two women, close relatives of the Assad family, were detained while attempting to board a plane . According to media reports, they were the wife and daughter of the former dictator’s cousin, who had entered Lebanon illegally. The women’s father-in-law and grandfather is Rifaat al-Assad, Bashar al-Assad’s uncle, who is considered responsible for the shelling of civilian cities and the mass deaths of civilians.
