BREAKING NEWS: Pro-Russian Defense Minister Killed in Mali

The rebels attacked the minister’s residence in the garrison town of Katy.

Mali has suffered one of the largest coordinated attacks by rebels in recent years, killing the country’s Defense Minister, Sadio Camara, Aljazeera reports .

It is noted that the murder took place on April 25. Rebels attacked the minister’s residence in the garrison town of Katy. According to intelligence, the attack was carried out by militants of the JNIM group.

The attack involved a car bomb driven by a suicide bomber. The explosion almost completely destroyed the residence.

The publication added that Camara was a central figure in the military government that seized power after two consecutive coups in 2020 and 2021.

Journalists emphasized that Camara was considered the “right-hand man” of Mali’s self-proclaimed president, Assimi Goyita. He was one of the main lobbyists for the presence of the Russian “African Corps” (formerly the Wagner PMC) in the country.
