A policewoman was killed in the explosions on Danylyshyna Street. Law enforcement officers are investigating the terrorist act.
A 23-year-old policewoman was killed and 24 others were injured in nighttime explosions in Lviv . Law enforcement officers have classified the incident as a terrorist act, the press service of the Lviv region police reported .
It is noted that at around 00:30, the 102 hotline received a report of a break-in at a store on Danylyshyna Street. After the patrol police crew arrived at the scene, an explosion occurred. Later, when the second crew arrived, another explosion was heard.
“It has been previously determined that improvised explosive devices were detonated. A 23-year-old policewoman died as a result of the explosions. A patrol police vehicle and a civilian vehicle were damaged,” the police report.
An investigative and operational team, explosives technicians, and other specialized services were at the scene. The injured are being provided with necessary medical assistance.
The police also noted that criminal proceedings have been opened under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – a terrorist act that caused grave consequences. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the SBU Department in the Lviv region.
“Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident and the persons involved in the crime,” the report says.
