This decision was made on the initiative of the head of the Pentagon’s political department, the publication writes.
The Pentagon has suspended the supply of some anti-aircraft missiles and other precision-guided munitions to Ukraine, Politico reported, citing informed sources.
“The decision was made at the initiative of the head of the Pentagon’s political department, Elbridge Colby, after a review of the Department of Defense’s ammunition stockpiles, which raised concerns that the total number of artillery shells, air defense missiles, and precision weapons was decreasing,” the material says.

According to the publication’s sources, the initial decision to suspend some of the aid promised during the Biden administration was made in early June. However, it is only now taking effect – “at a time when Ukraine is repelling some of the largest Russian missile and drone attacks on civilian targets in Kyiv and other cities.”
The Pentagon and the White House did not respond to reporters’ requests for comment.
The publication emphasizes that the Pentagon’s decision to suspend some of the supplies has caused concern among Ukraine’s allies in the US Congress, who fear that the country will remain vulnerable to new air strikes from Russia.
“This ammunition is a mix of air defense and precision weapons that have been flowing into Ukraine for much of the past two-plus years. The weapons are a combination of two different streams of support that the US has provided to Ukraine during the Biden administration. Some comes from the reduction of current stocks, when the Department of Defense receives money to replenish this ammunition as soon as possible. The second is under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, under which the US finances the purchase of weapons for Ukraine from American defense companies. This money is used to conclude contracts for the supply of weapons to the Ukrainian government,” the material explains.
The authors add that all funds from the fund were distributed during Biden’s term – weapons deliveries are simply carried out as the contracted systems are ready.
“The Trump administration has not requested new aid, although, according to an administration official, the funds provided under Biden will last Ukraine several more months,” Politico added.

“the US has provided to Ukraine during the Biden administration.”
“The Trump administration has not requested new aid”
Hey Mike – you were asking what President Biden did better?
Before or after he let Vladolf invade Ukraine?
For Biden, it was cowardice and stupidity, for Trump, it’s cowardice, stupidity, AND evilness.
Red, Red, Red. I’ve explained this to you a number of times.
trumpkov had weakened NATO and vowed to pull the U.S. out of it if he won a second term. President Biden and his secretary of state, Antony Blinken, had worked hard to pull the alliance back together.
Biden worked the phones and Blinken flew around the world, talking to allies not only to warn them but also to get pledges to pressure Russia, help Ukraine defend itself, and accept refugees if necessary. On one day alone, Biden spoke with leaders from the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Canada, Poland, and Romania; the secretary general of NATO; and the presidents of the European Union.
Biden and Blinken anticipated Putin’s pretenses for an invasion of Ukraine and publicized them, taking away from the Russian president a key propaganda lever. Along with their allies, they warned they would respond to any invasion of Ukraine with heavy economic sanctions that would crush the Russian economy. This was a threat many observers met with skepticism, since sanctions imposed after Russia’s 2014 invasion and subsequent occupation of Ukraine had not been strong enough to force Putin to a reckoning.
