The matter is a high-level approval procedure of the US Department of Defense, which has not yet been announced.

The Pentagon has been blocking Ukraine’s use of long-range missiles to strike Russian territory for several months, limiting Kyiv’s ability to use powerful weapons to counter Moscow’s invasion , the Wall Street Journal reported , citing US officials.

According to them, the high-level approval procedure of the US Department of Defense, which has not yet been announced, does not allow Ukraine to launch American long-range tactical missile systems (ATACMS) against targets in Russia from the end of spring.

It is noted that at least once Ukraine tried to use ATACMS on a target in Russia, but was refused.

The publication writes that the Pentagon refused to issue permission to carry out the attacks because the White House was trying to convince Moscow to start peace talks.

Importantly, only the Secretary of State for Defence, Pete Hegseth, can authorise such strikes. This applies to ATACMS missiles, as well as the British-French Storm Shadow cruise missiles, as they receive guidance data from the US.

It is noted that the procedure was developed by Deputy Secretary of Defense Elbridge Colby. He is known for considering the confrontation with China in the Pacific theater as a task so important that it is possible to sacrifice US military commitments in other regions of the world for its sake. He was also linked in the media to the brief suspension of supplies to Ukraine in early July. The article says:

“This policy effectively overturned the Biden administration’s decision to allow Ukraine to strike Russian territory.”

President Donald Trump wrote this week that a war cannot be won by limiting oneself to defensive actions, but according to the newspaper’s interlocutors, this statement did not lead to any practical consequences.

  1. “…does not allow Ukraine to launch American long-range tactical missile systems (ATACMS) against targets in Russia from the end of spring.”

This was also the policy during the Biden admin and the WSJ knows that. Have any doubt? Search our database.

    • Doubt anyone will dispute that Biden’s restrictions were appalling. But he finally authorized long range strikes into ruzzia and now the Trumpian regime has “effectively overturned” that decision.

    • That was the policy during the beginning of the Biden admin. But that changed.

In May 2024, the Biden administration initially permitted Ukraine to use U.S. weapons, including the HIMARS system, for limited strikes on Russian territory bordering the Kharkiv region. This was a defensive move to help counter a Russian offensive in that area.

In November 2024, Biden expanded the policy to allow the use of the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) for deeper strikes into Russia. The decision came after North Korean troops were deployed to assist Russia’s war effort, particularly in the Kursk region where Ukrainian forces were operating.

  2. “the procedure was developed by Deputy Secretary of Defense Elbridge Colby.”

Sir Scradge wrote previously, “Elbridge Colby is a pro-putler bastard who said before Krasnov was elected what he was going to do: focus on China and withdraw completely from Ukraine.”

    • The entire taco regime is anti-Ukraine and pro fascist mafia land. Heck, they themselves are semi-fascists, moving toward full-blown fascism.

  3. The two days ago, the orange taco ranted against Biden for not giving Ukraine the permission to strike at mafia land. Biden allowed strikes on the enemy in November 2024. VERY late, but permitted, nevertheless.
Taco lies whenever his oversized mouth lets out any sounds.
