Over 90% of Ukrainian prisoners of war in Russia were subjected to torture and abuse.
This was stated by Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiga, reports Censor.NET with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs .
According to Sybiga, the prisoners are held in inhumane conditions, without proper medical care and the opportunity to communicate with their families. They return in a state of critical physical and psychological exhaustion.
The minister noted that 90% of Ukrainian prisoners of war are tortured by Russia. The Prosecutor General’s Office has recorded over 175,000 war crimes.
Sibiga emphasized that war crimes for the Russian Federation are a tool for waging war: the occupiers illegally detain and relocate civilians, including children , and purposefully destroy civilian infrastructure.
