This ship was drifting more than 200 km from the city of Tuapse.

Two kamikaze naval drones managed to hit the sanctioned tanker MARQUISE in the Black Sea,  according to a message from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the social network Facebook .

“This morning, a unit of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, using two MBEK-kamikazes [two unmanned sea boats – UNIAN], hit the sanctioned vessel “MARQUISE” (tanker, Cameroon flag, without cargo, carrying capacity over 37 thousand tons),” the report says.

In particular, at the time of the attack, the vessel was drifting, in the area 210 km southeast of the city of Tuapse (Russia) without an AIS (Automatic Identification System) signal. It is likely that this vessel was waiting to be loaded at sea from another vessel.

As specified by the General Staff, the ship was hit in the stern, in the area of the propeller-steering group and engine room.

At the same time, the tanker “MARQUISE” is under sanctions by Ukraine, Great Britain, the European Union, Switzerland, New Zealand and Canada and was used by the enemy for the illegal transportation of petroleum products.

However, the extent of the damage is being determined.
