Denis Shmyhal was offered to head another area of government work.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed that Mykhailo Fedorov, the current head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, become the new Minister of Defense of Ukraine. He announced this in his evening address .

“I’ve also decided to change the format of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. I’ve proposed Mykhailo Fedorov as the new Minister of Defense. Mykhailo is deeply involved in the Drone Line and is very effective in digitalizing government services and processes. Together with all our military personnel, the military command, and Ukraine’s national arms manufacturers and partners, we need to implement changes in the defense sector that will help… Fedorov will be able to implement all of this and add technological sophistication. I’ve proposed Denys Shmyhal to lead another area of government work—one that is no less important for our sustainability,” the president stated.
According to him, there will soon be more personnel decisions at the institutes, and a new head of the Foreign Intelligence Service will be announced soon.
“Today, a significant internal reboot has begun – changes aimed at making Ukraine more resilient… Last year, state institutions demonstrated both good results that need to be strengthened, and problems that cannot be carried over into the new year,” he added.
It is worth noting that he is the youngest minister in the Ukrainian government – he is 34 years old.
