Russian forces struck Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers with an Iskander 9M727 cruise missile, according to Kyiv. A similar, recently examined missile contained about 35 US-made components, along with parts from Japan, the UK and Switzerland, a senior Ukrainian official said.

A section of the cruise missile hit the Cabinet of Ministers’ building, said Vladyslav Vlasiuk, President Volodymyr Zelensky’s envoy for sanctions policy. He said preliminary assessments indicate the Iskander failed to detonate after being damaged by air defenses. The fire broke out when the fuel ignited, he added.

Vlasiuk said a recently examined “fresh” Iskander contained 57 Russian-made components, about 35 components from the United States, five from Belarus, and one each from Japanese, British and Swiss manufacturers.

He named several foreign producers whose parts were found in the Russian cruise missile, including US companies Texas Instruments, Analog Devices and Altera; the UK’s College Electronics Ltd; Japan’s Fujitsu; and Switzerland’s Traco Power.

The missile also included components from Belarusian JSC Integral and Russian firms JSC Mikron, JSC Production Association Strela, JSC Angstrem, JSC Research and Design Bureau Eksiton, and the Karachev Electrodetal Plant.

“Compared with missiles from previous years, there are fewer components from Europe and the United States, and more from Russia and Belarus. All information has been provided to partners for sanctions action,” Vlasiuk said.

During Russia’s mass strike on Kyiv on September 7, the Cabinet of Ministers building in the capital’s Pechersk district was damaged.

Defense Express, citing its own sources, reported on September 8 that an Iskander-K with a warhead weighing about 450 kilograms hit the Cabinet but did not detonate. EU Ambassador Katarina Mathernova shared images of the Iskander debris that struck the government building. One fragment bore a Russian inscription reading “Filter FT-1 Nadduv.”

The Times reported that by striking the Cabinet in Kyiv, Russian President Vladimir Putin has embarked on a new phase of the war.

  1. What is this pro-ruSSian propaganda shit??? One can buy all kinda components on the black market, just like a used PS3. Does this mean we aid ruSSia or what???!

  2. I dont see it as pro-orc, i see it as more “hey IC companies, do something about this”. I’d guess that for now the horse have left the barn, but, in the future i’d hope there will be more restrictions and traceabilty on duel use ICs and ASICs/FPGAs. It will constrain profits, but hey, allowing your IP into hands of terrorists is unconscenciable, as if biz people have a conscience…
