Iran’s Foreign Minister said that Tehran’s cooperation with Russia and China continues.
Russia and China are providing assistance to Iran in various ways, including through “military cooperation,” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said, Politico reports .
“We have cooperated closely in the past, and this cooperation continues to this day, including in the military sphere. Iran has developed good relations with these countries: in the political, economic and even military spheres,” he said.
The publication noted that Iran and Russia have strengthened ties over the past decade. For example, Tehran supplies Moscow with Shahed drones, which the Russians use to strike Ukraine. Moreover, the Russians are now independently producing drones based on the Shahed UAV.
Additionally, Iran signed a 25-year economic cooperation agreement with China in 2021. At the heart of this agreement is the sale of Iran’s abundant oil reserves for supply to China.
Araqchi also touched on the topic of the Strait of Hormuz in a conversation with journalists. He stated that the strait is closed to tankers and ships belonging to “Iran’s enemies.” However, the Iranian Foreign Minister assured that the Strait of Hormuz “is not completely closed, but is only inaccessible to American and Israeli ships and tankers.”
