A weapon and what appears to be a bag of cannabis were found in the 45-year-old man’s home.

In Transcarpathia, a 45-year-old priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate has been charged with murder after shooting at passersby on the street. Three people were killed, and two more were hospitalized, according to the Office of the Prosecutor General.
It is noted that law enforcement received a report of the shooting on October 15 at around 4:00 PM. The man was detained after the shooting in the village of Vyshkovo in Transcarpathia.
According to the investigation, the man was walking down the street and shooting at passersby with a gun.
“Two local residents, aged 62 and 64, died at the scene. An 84-year-old woman, who suffered a chest wound, later died in the hospital. Two other victims remain under medical observation, one of whom is in serious condition,” the prosecutor’s office noted.
The report stated that during searches of the detainee’s home and the church where he served, law enforcement officers seized a shotgun, a pistol with ammunition, and a bag containing a substance presumably believed to be cannabis. Forensic tests are expected to determine whether the seized weapon was used in the shooting. The man also had his blood tested for alcohol and other drugs.
The priest has been charged with premeditated murder and attempted murder of two or more persons. Law enforcement officials are considering several possible motives, the primary one being hooliganism. The prosecutor’s office will request that the suspect be held in custody without bail.
