France and the United Kingdom have announced their intention to send their Rafale and Eurofighter fighter jets to Eastern Europe in connection with the Russian drone attack . This was stated by Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosyniak-Kamysz, reports Onet .
He said his country’s allies had taken concrete steps to help after the Russian drone incident. The Netherlands will accelerate the delivery of two of its three Patriot batteries.
“They are also deciding to deploy short-range air defense systems and anti-drone defense systems, sending 300 soldiers,” the minister explained.
The Czech Republic is also to send three Mi-17 helicopters and about 1,000 soldiers to Poland.
Later, French President Emmanuel Macron said he would send three Rafale fighter jets to Poland to patrol the airspace over that country and other countries in eastern Europe.
According to him, he discussed this decision with NATO Secretary General Marco Rutte and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who “is also involved in the defense of the eastern flank.”
According to the president, one cannot succumb to “growing intimidation” from Russia.
