BREAKING NEWS: Firepoint CEO Terek said that the Flamingo cruise missile is more of a “political statement.” Honcharenko criticized. PRODUCTION OF FLAMINGOS STOPPED!!!

Firepoint CEO Iryna Terek stated that the company does not plan to continue producing Flamingo cruise missiles , calling them a “political statement.”

She said this in a podcast on the YouTube channel “UT-2”, which was released on July 20, a fragment of the video was shared on the social network by People’s Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko, reports Censor.NET.

A young woman with long brown hair and glasses, wearing a pink shirt, sits at a table holding a microphone, with a backdrop featuring graphics.

What did Terek say then?

“There won’t be, at least for now we don’t plan any more cruise missiles. I can tell you why. We squeezed the best out of the circumstances in which we worked. We started developing ballistics for a cruise missile, but it’s a certain iterative path, complex and slow. And we decided: “Let’s do it, while we’re at it, let’s do something simpler, which is already clearer to us and which we have more experience with.” That’s how Flamingo appeared. I think it was much more important as a political statement than as some kind of “super-duper wunderwaffle”. The bets on it were never made on “super-duper wunderwaffle”. The bets on it were to show our enemy that we can get him where he doesn’t expect us. And, in fact, it copes with this function perfectly,” said the CEO of Firepoint.

Honcharenko’s reaction

Commenting on what Terek said, People’s Deputy Honcharenko  was outraged that state orders are received by companies without experience in rocketry, while the potential of specialized enterprises such as KB Luch or Yuzhnmash is not used.

“Let’s think about it. Well, purely theoretically, if Russia were to carry out an operation against Ukraine, how exactly would they do it? 1. Maybe they found people who had never worked in rocketry and created a rocket company. 2. Maybe they found friends who lobbied this company brilliantly in the President’s Office and got caught on NABU tapes. 3. Maybe then they would give all the state orders to this company. Not to KB Luch, not to Yuzhnmash, nor to other plants that have many years of successful experience. 4. Maybe everyone around would listen that in fact the missiles of this company are a political statement. And where the real missiles are – well, it’s still not very clear. Think,” the parliamentarian wrote .
