US President Donald Trump has once again escalated the rhetoric surrounding Greenland, making a harsh statement against Denmark and NATO .

As Censor.NET reports , this is stated in Trump’s post on the social network Truth Social.

The American president called on Denmark to “immediately leave” Greenland and said that only the United States, in his opinion, is capable of ensuring control and security in the region. He argued his position by citing threats from Russia and China in the Arctic.

Trump’s harsh statement on Greenland

In his post, Trump directly addressed NATO, urging the alliance to influence Denmark. He also mentioned Danish intelligence assessments of growing Russian and Chinese interest in Greenland and the Arctic region in general.

“NATO, tell Denmark to get out of there immediately! Two dog teams can’t handle it. Only the US can,” Donald Trump wrote.

The American leader’s statements once again caused tensions in relations between the United States and European partners, in particular Denmark, which formally owns Greenland as a self-governing territory.

France strengthens diplomatic presence

Amid Trump’s statements, France announced a move that signals Europe’s growing interest in Greenland. Paris will open its consulate on the island on February 6.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot announced this on RTL radio. According to him, the decision is clearly political and demonstrates France’s desire to engage more actively with Greenland.

The head of the French Foreign Ministry stressed that Paris supports Denmark and considers any pressure on the status of the island unacceptable. The opening of the consulate, he said, is a signal of France’s interest in the stability and security of the region.
