At a meeting in the Kremlin on August 6, US Special Representative Steve Witkoff presented Russian dictator Vladimir Putin with a “very advantageous offer” to end the war in Ukraine, which includes territorial concessions from Kyiv.
This is reported by the Polish publication Onet , citing sources, Censor.NET reports .
Although the media does not indicate the source of the information, it notes that this proposal was agreed upon with European states the day before.
The key points of the US offer to Russia are said to include :
- A ceasefire in Ukraine, not a peace agreement;
- De facto recognition of the Ukrainian territories occupied by Russia (by postponing discussions on the issue for 49 or 99 years);
- The lifting of most sanctions imposed against Russia, and in the long term, the resumption of energy cooperation, i.e. the import of Russian gas and oil.
- Moscow also did not receive a promise to stop military support for Ukraine.
