The Russian national killed in Balashisha, near Moscow, could have been Colonel of the Russian Armed Forces Damir Davydov, who headed the missile and ammunition supply department of the GRAU of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

This was reported by Advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Serhiy Sternenko , and also by the Russian Telegram channel “VChK-OGPU” , which is associated with Russian security forces,  Censor.NET reports .

Details of the car bombing

Earlier, Telegram channels wrote that the deceased was a lieutenant general. According to the Russian public, the blown up SUV belonged directly to Davydov, who purchased the car used in 2024.

The explosion occurred in the Aviatoriv neighborhood, a residential area of ​​the Russian Defense Ministry, where Russian military personnel and their families live. Last year, a car carrying Yaroslav Moskalyk, deputy head of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, was blown up on a nearby street.

What is known about Davydov?

It is noted that more than 15 years ago, Davydov headed the Central Testing Technical Bureau at the 51st Arsenal of the Russian Defense Ministry’s GRAU in the Vladimir region, and later became the head of the entire Main Missile and Artillery Directorate.

It is also indicated that after the start of the Russian Federation’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he repeatedly traveled to the temporarily occupied territory of the Luhansk region.

• At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Davydov held the rank of colonel and was responsible for the supply of missile weapons and artillery ammunition.

If the information about the death is confirmed, this will be the fourth case of the elimination of an officer of this level in the Russian rear since the beginning of 2022.
