On Monday, June 23, EU and Canadian leaders signed a security and defense partnership agreement. The document was signed at the EU-Canada summit in Brussels.

This is stated on the European Union website , Censor.NET reports .

EU and Canadian leaders also reaffirmed their political, economic and strategic partnership and adopted a joint statement.

In the statement, the parties emphasized their shared commitment to multilateralism, a rules-based international order, and cooperation on shared priorities such as support for Ukraine, de-escalation in the Middle East, economic security, trade, digital innovation, and defense.

“The new security and defence partnership between the EU and Canada is a significant step forward in deepening cooperation in several areas, including crisis management, defence industrial cooperation, hybrid threats and military mobility,” the statement said.
