The transportation of petroleum products to the capital of the Russian Federation has been suspended indefinitely.

The Ryazan-Moscow oil pipeline exploded in Russia, and the transportation of oil products to the Russian capital has been suspended indefinitely. This was reported to UNIAN by sources in the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

It was noted that on August 26, 2025, a powerful explosion occurred in the Ryazan region on the main oil pipeline, which is one of the main sources of supply of petroleum products to the capital of the aggressor state.

According to interlocutors in the GUR, after reports appeared in public forums in Ryazan about a strong “bang” on a section of the main oil pipeline, a strong fire broke out. Emergency services vehicles, law enforcement agencies and repair crews arrived in the area of the village of Bozhatkovo in the railway district of the city of Ryazan, and are trying to eliminate the consequences of the explosion and fire.

It is reported that since 2018, this highway has been repurposed for the supply of automobile gasoline by Transneft, which supplies the army of the aggressor state.

According to the Ministry of Defense’s GUR, as a result of the incident, the transportation of petroleum products to Moscow has been suspended indefinitely, and representatives of Transneft are calculating the losses.

Fuel crisis in Russia

As UNIAN reported, the sale of AI-92 gasoline has been suspended for residents of the Kuril district, which occupies most of the Kuril Islands, due to the growing fuel crisis that began after a series of strikes by Ukrainian drones on Russian oil refineries. The head of the municipal district, Konstantin Istomin, noted that the remaining gasoline supply in full is “necessary for special transport.”

It was noted that since August 20, restrictions on the sale of fuel have been in effect in the Kuril Islands – no more than 10 liters of gasoline in one hand. Since August 17, a shortage of gasoline with long queues at gas stations has arisen in neighboring Primorye. At the same time, gas stations in Transbaikalia and temporarily occupied Ukrainian Crimea returned to the Soviet practice of selling fuel by coupons.
