Neither Ukraine nor Europe took part in the development of the peace plan.

The White House intends to present a major new peace agreement with Russia , which officials say will finally end the war in Ukraine. According to Politico , the Donald Trump administration expects all parties to reach an agreement to end the war in Ukraine within the coming days.

“A senior White House official said they expect a framework document to end the conflict to be agreed upon by all parties by the end of this month – and possibly “as early as this week,” the publication writes.

However, it appears neither Ukraine nor America’s European allies were involved in the development of the new peace plan, the publication writes. It is also unclear what solutions are envisaged for the most pressing issues related to Russia’s seizure of vast swathes of Ukrainian territory, the abduction of tens of thousands of Ukrainian children, or security guarantees for Ukraine.

At the same time, “the mood in the White House is optimistic, and it looks like the plan will be presented to Zelensky as a fait accompli,” the article says.

“What we’re going to offer [to Ukraine] is reasonable… We basically don’t care about the Europeans. ‘The main thing is that Ukraine agrees,'” said a senior White House official.

As Politico observers note, the White House believes that Ukraine is now in such a position, given the corruption scandals that have dogged Zelensky, given where the front lines are now, that they believe they can force it to accept this deal.

“They say it’s reasonable; it’s what they think will be acceptable for Ukraine,” the article notes.
