According to the publication’s interlocutors, the found debris indicates that it could be a drone that Russia uses to attack Ukraine.

On Wednesday night, an unknown object exploded in the village of Osiny, Lukiw County (Lublin Voivodeship, Poland ). According to the Rzeczpospolita newspaper , it was an Iranian-made Shahed drone, which Russia is actively using in the war against Ukraine.

Police received a report of the incident at 2:22 a.m. “We found a place in a cornfield where an explosion of an unknown object could have occurred. We found burnt objects of various sizes scattered within a radius of several dozen meters,” said Marcin Jozwik, a representative of the Lukiw County Police.

The explosion was so powerful that it shattered windows in three neighboring houses, but there were no casualties or injuries. The military, police, and counterintelligence are working at the scene.

Lublin Voivode Krzysztof Komorski assured that there is no longer a threat to the population:

“Radiation levels have been checked, there is no danger. All residents who have experienced psychological stress will be provided with support.”

Despite this, the official command of the Polish Armed Forces stated that according to radar data, no airspace violations were recorded. The final conclusions regarding the origin of the device are to be provided by military experts.

The publication’s sources claim that the wreckage belongs to Shahed-131 or Shahed-136 – kamikaze drones that Russia receives from Iran and partially produces at its own facilities.

This is not the first time that debris or missiles have landed in Poland during Russian attacks on Ukraine. However, this time the drone exploded more than 100 km from the border with Ukraine and 48 km from Warsaw.
