Russian occupiers have struck a boarding school in Sudzha, in the Kursk region. This was reported by Alexey Dmitrashkovsky, a representative of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Commandant’s Office in the city of Sudzha.
“Today, February 1, 2025, at 17:54, the armed forces of the Russian Federation finally struck the boarding school in the city of Sudzha. 95 people were under the rubble. Moans and screams of people can be heard from under the rubble,” he noted.
According to Dmytrashkivsky, most of these people are elderly and unable to move independently.
“The military commandant’s office is currently conducting search and rescue operations,” the speaker added.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine , Russia launched a strike with a guided aerial bomb from its aircraft.
“At the time of the attack, there were dozens of local residents in the building, preparing to evacuate. The Russian side had information that the boarding school was occupied exclusively by civilians – local residents, including women and children. Everything possible is now being done to save the survivors,” the statement noted.

The General Staff noted that this strike is yet another war crime by the Russian Federation, which is directed against the civilian population.
“The Russian army terrorizes Ukrainian cities daily with missile and drone strikes, destroying residential buildings, schools, hospitals. Now it has begun to deliberately kill its own civilians. Terrorists will definitely be held accountable for every war crime,” the statement assured.
