France and Germany agree that Ukraine can attack military targets in Russia, as can Poland and other allies.
Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz said Germany will not ban Ukrainian attacks on Russian military targets. He said Ukraine “may defend itself” and Kyiv should be allowed to attack military facilities in Russia.
While Chancellor Scholz was previously firmly convinced that Ukraine could not use Western weapons to attack Russian targets, he took a step towards Macron on the third and final day of the French President’s historic state visit to Germany.
A day after the joint German-French declaration, the Polish authorities also allowed the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to attack targets on Russian territory with Polish weapons.
“Poland’s position is that there should be no restrictions in this regard. Ukraine has to be able to fight with the equipment it receives, because it receives this equipment to be effective,” the country’s Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk told Radio Zet.
Sweden was another ally that supported Ukraine’s right to attack Russian territory. According to international law, Ukraine has the right to defend itself through “military actions against the enemy’s territory provided they comply with the laws of war,” said Sweden’s Defense Minister Pål Jonson.
The Czech government also responded positively to NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg’s call to allow Ukraine the use of Western weapons to attack targets on Russian territory. “As an attacked country, Ukraine has, of course, the unlimited right to use all means of protection,” Prime Minister Petr Fiala said in Prague on Tuesday, calling such a position “simply logical”.
The Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren stressed that Ukraine has the right to attack targets on the territory of the aggressor country.
Even the US is reportedly reconsidering their position on this issue.
In early May, British Foreign Minister David Cameron said Ukraine’s armed forces could hit Russian territory with British weapons in self-defense and response to Russian attacks on Ukrainian targets.
This is certainly the correct response to Putin’s previous threats to blackmail allies to further restrict Ukraine’s defense capability. The dictator, of course, repeated the threats in the hopes that he could impress someone with it. “They should keep in mind that their countries are small and densely populated, which is a factor to consider before they start talking about an push deep into Russian territory.” “

France and Germany agree Ukraine may strike military targets in Russia as does Poland and other allies.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said Germany would not prohibit Ukrainian attacks on russian military targets, saying Ukraine “is allowed to defend itself” and Kyiv should be allowed to hit military sites inside russia.
Whilst Chancellor Scholz had previously been firm on Ukraine not using Western weapons to strike russian targets, he made a step in the direction of Macron, on the third and last day of the French president’s historic state visit to Germany.
A day after the Franco-German joint declaration Polish authorities also allowed the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to strike at targets on the territory of russia with the help of Polish weapons.
“Poland’s position is that there should be no restrictions in this regard. Ukraine must be able to fight with the equipment it receives, because it receives this equipment to be effective,” said the country’s Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk said on Radio Zet.
Sweden was another of the allies that backed Ukraines right to hit inside russian territory. According to international law, Ukraine has the right to defend itself by “military actions aimed at the territory of the adversary if they comply with the laws of war,” Sweden’s Defense Minister Pål Jonson said.
Likewise the Czech government responded positively to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg’s call to allow Ukraine to use Western weapons to strike targets on russian territory. “As a country that has been attacked, Ukraine certainly has the full right to use all means of protection,” Prime Minister Petr Fiala said on Tuesday in Prague and called such a position “simply logical.”
Minister of Defense of the Netherlands Kajsa Ollongren emphasized that Ukraine has the right to strike targets on the territory of the aggressor country.
Reportedly even US is reconsidering its position on the question.
In early May, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine could strike at russian territory with British weapons in self-defense and in response to russian attacks on Ukrainian targets.
This is certainly the correct answer to Putin’s previous threats meant to blackmail allies into further curtailing Ukraine’s capability to defend itself. The dictator of course repeated the threats, hoping that he could impress anyone. “They should keep in mind that theirs are small and densely populated countries, which is a factor to reckon with before they start talking about striking deep into the russian territory.”

Macron took the charge………………………………now instructors and soldiers, move on, a la bataille!
Scholz always needs someone to take him by the hand and lead him.
It’s progress, they need to be firm and stand up to Putin or he’ll continue to press on and absorb more land. Any country being attacked has the right to defend themselves by what ever means necessary.
