Boris Johnson: It Is Time For West To Snap Out Of Our Sleep-Walk

To recover the spirit of Reagan and Thatcher.

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called on Western countries to abandon restrictions on supplying Ukraine with the weapons it needs to defeat Russia in a full-scale war.

Johnson dedicated his weekly column in the Daily Mail tabloid to this.

Johnson asks, rhetorically, “why the delay?” and “what the hell has got into us?” while criticizing the West for the delay of the military assistance to Kyiv.

The former British PM warned that the hypothetical defeat of Ukraine in the war against Russia would become a “turning point in history, the moment when the West finally loses its post-war hegemony, the moment when borders everywhere are suddenly up for grabs and aggression”.

“It will be a terrifying moment for the people of Taiwan and the clearest possible signal to China that the West has lost the willpower to protect democracy,” he underlined.

Johnson writes in his column that the shortage of shells on the Ukrainian front line is now so bad that sometimes they have to wait under Russian bombardment, unable to fire back. The shortage of air defences is now so acute that Kharkiv — the second city of Ukraine — is in danger of being turned into another Mariupol. He called on the US Congress to quickly approve a package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of $60 billion, and Germany to supply Taurus missiles to Kyiv.

“It is time for the West, including Britain, to snap out of our sleep-walk; to recover the spirit of Reagan and Thatcher and invest in the defence of our freedoms. The simplest and most cost-effective way to defend freedom is to invest now in the defence of Ukraine,” the former British Prime Minister said.

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Boris Johnson has been actively supporting Ukraine and advocating for providing it with all the necessary assistance.

  1. Sleepwalking is what the West is still doing. Where is the artillery ammo that the Czech Republic found months ago? Still, there are no Taurus missiles available. There are hardly any tanks coming in, attack helicopters or ground attack planes are not even on any agendas, no sanctions are fully effective, nothing is done about Hungary, no more air defense systems are coming in, and not to mention no Western boots on the ground.
The West is playing a dangerous game, pussyfooting with the mafia regime.
If they continue to sleepwalk until the Bundeswehr must dig trenches before Berlin, it’s already game over.
