Boris Johnson is “helping more” than Emmanuel Macron in the resistance against Russia thanks to pressure from the British people, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has said.
In an interview in Kyiv where he is resisting Vladimir Putin’s invasion, Mr Zelensky said France was being more hesitant in sending weapons “because they are afraid of Russia”.
When asked if the Prime Minister had been keener than the French president to send weapons, Mr Zelensky responded: “Yes. To be honest, Johnson is a leader who is helping more.”
He told the Economist magazine that while Germany is “making a mistake today” as it tries to balance its ties to Moscow, “Britain is definitely on our side” and is “not performing a balancing act”.
It comes as Ukraine said it was ready to discuss neutrality as part of a ceasefire deal, providing “territorial integrity” is guaranteed, as peace negotiations restart with Russia in Turkey on Monday.

Nadhim Zahawi today warned Vladimir Putin “there will be a reckoning” for his invasion of Ukraine as the Education Secretary said he believes there is “no doubt” war crimes have been committed by Russian forces.
Mr Zahawi said Mr Putin has “no place” in Ukraine and demanded the Russian President halt his “illegal” incursion and withdraw from the country.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet minister distanced the UK from Joe Biden’s apparent call for regime change in Russia as he said it is “up to the Russian people to decide who governs them”.
Mr Biden sparked an international backlash from his own allies after the US President called Mr Putin a “butcher” and insisted the Russian leader “cannot remain in power”.
Mr Zahawi refused to back Mr Biden’s remarks, which were subsequently rowed back on by the White House, but said he believed the “Russian people are pretty fed up” with Mr Putin’s regime.”
Boris is a true friend. I don’t understand why anyone would be surprised about Germany or France and their attitude. For these countries to be at the table for the Minsk agreement was a farce. Effectively Ukraine was alone in the negotiations.
I would have more respect or for that matter any respect for Biden had he not been so quick to retract his comments. Now all he has done is demonstrated his true nature…a fuckin wimp without a molecule of principle or honor.
Let’s face it, the new leader of Europe is definitely the UK. Forget the jellyfish Germans and French.
