Blinken said the US does not support Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory

The US Secretary of State recalled that Washington has always helped Kyiv defend itself.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke about Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries . He said that Washington does not support such actions by Kyiv.

According to him, the United States from the first day of the war helped Ukraine defend itself, but does not support strikes against targets outside of Ukraine.

“We did not support Ukrainian strikes outside its territory and were not included in them,” the US Secretary of State noted during a press conference with French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejournet.

    • The quote is included in the article:

“We did not support Ukrainian strikes outside its territory and were not included in them.”

It doesn’t say “Don’t do it.” It’s basically saying that Ukraine is dong this on its own, without US support or involvement, so the russians have no excuse for retaliatory attacks on the US.

I don’t know why you are always reading more into these statements than is being said.

(And a reminder – the US has explicitly said that Ukraine can use US-provided weapons to attack russians anywhere on Ukrainian territory, including Crimea.)

      • Be fair, it is not language that is helpful.
You can say: we are not involved, but we encourage Ukraine to do everything that is necessary to achieve liberation of its territory.

I really think Sullivan and Blinken should both go.

        • A far better statement would have been, “We support all destruction of infrastructure that reduces the russian ability to wage war”

      • Although it’s true that he didn’t say, don’t do it, but we, as Americans, are still deeply ashamed to have such a spineless, cowardly, chicken shit government.
BTW, Washington did tell Ukraine not to attack mafia land’s refineries.
        Washington is a despicable swamp.

        • I honestly think they haven’t said that explicitly and that previous rumours on this were taken out of context.

But yeah, I consider any statement not fully in support of what Ukraine is doing cowardice.

I have the feeling the Biden administration consists of good, but overly cautious cowards.
But being nice doesn’t win wars. In fact, quite the opposite.

I want to make clear that a re-election of Biden is the best outcome for Ukraine, but that doesn’t mean I am not really disappointed. They lack the balls to get anything done.

          • You’d figure that even a Biden and his staff would’ve managed to grow some balls after two years of war, but their reluctance to have courage is stronger than the stink of fresh dog shit.

            • Yeah. I am not under the illusion that a potential second term for Biden will be much difference, but inadequate support is still better than no support.

    • Yeah, because the US never dropped a single bomb on Nazi Germany, neither. Only on France and the Nethetlands! 🤯

Seriously now, such madness can’t be reasonably explained, shows clearly that the Biden government is mentally stuck somewhere in the last century.

  1. “We did not support Ukrainian strikes outside its territory and were not included in them,”

Tough! You are in no position to dictate anything to Ukraine. Mafia land has declared war on Ukraine, that means any target is legitimate.

      • Ok, but, sorry, Larry, this can’t be interpreted in any way as the US government actually understanding and supporting what it takes to win this war. This is water on the mills of those who claim that Biden doesn’t want Putler to lose. That’s only marginally better than Trump’s stance. ☹

        • Biden is scared of global oil disruption in the election year. Thankfully Ukraine have given the WH the middle finger on this one.

        • IMO, those who claim that Biden doesn’t want putler to lose are Biden-haters and don’t need any evidence to support that claim.

I think any fair-minded person would agree that it’s not unreasonable to interpret “We did not support Ukrainian strikes outside its territory and were not included in them” as a CYA statement saying, “Don’t blame us for what Ukraine is doing without our involvement.”

          “the US government”

Please keep in mind that we’re not taking about the US government – we’re talking about the executive branch of the US government. The US could be doing more if we weren’t blocked by a small minority of the legislative branch. (Still not as much as many of us would like, but more than we’re able to do now.)

“Trump’s stance” – I believe that in his heart, President Biden wants Ukraine to win, while trumpkov hates Ukraine and wants his BFF putler to emerge victorious.

  2. It’s time for a change in US leadership. Ukraine will not win with this administration. Biden, his Secretary of State, and all the rest of his gutless gang are terrified of Putin. I know many don’t like the alternative. The time has come to realize that Biden’s “for as long as it takes” and Putin Appeasement strategies are massive losers. That’s what this is, appeasement – don’t anger Putin. That strategy has never worked. These people never learn. Putin has started WW3. What’s happening in the House is nothing short of treason. Anything that strengthens Putin’s position will absolutely weaken whoever wins in November. MTG and all the others of her ilk need to be thrown out. If there’s any one person aiding Putin’s WW3 it’s MTG. She needs to be brought to court on charges of treason. Everyone will understand why when Putin’s troops arrive in Belarus by the end of summer. Lukaschenko is already talking about equipment arrivals. Why do you think Putin sent nukes to Belarus? Don’t underestimate Biden’s ability to F everything up.

  3. “I know many don’t like the alternative”
That’s not the point, Duck, but rather that Putinfan Trump is even worse! He hates Ukraine, since Zelenskyy refused to play along in his phony kabuki theatre to smear Biden. So, as annoying as it is, the current President is still the better choice. At least he wants to deliver arms, while the “Groupies of Putin” leader prevented that. 🙁

    • I agree, Trump doesn’t like Zelenskyy, but he’s not going to let the world burn because of that. There’s no evidence Trump is dictating MTG’s actions regarding Ukraine. She may be doing it on her own, believing it pleases Trump. I know Trump interfered in the Bill that included border security, but that’s different. If you pay attention, you will have noticed that Trump’s narrative on Ukraine is evolving in a positive direction. There are some, myself included, that believe Stefanik will be his VP candidate. If this happens, and Trump is elected, Ukraine has a legitimate chance to win the war by Russia’s unconditional surrender. That is only a matter of US political will.

        • It’s the only place where I can find hope. I could be a Biden fan if he actually had an objective for Ukraine to win.

          • Ok, fair enough, Duck. Still, I’m with Foccusser, can’t share your optimism about Trump. Too much of a risk, imho. 🤔

            • Trump has been very spotty and I have no idea where he actually comes down on the issue. I have a very strong feeling, however, that Biden will, in the end, betray Ukraine.

          • I could, too. But, I’m neither a Biden fan nor a Trump fan. We have two evils to choose from, and the lesser one seems to be Biden. This, out of 350,000,000 people, mind you!

            • Someone should have asked Biden how he defines “victory” in that case. He may have meant a ceasefire and Russia keeping all occupied territory. 😕

            • Consider what Biden does, not what he says. Politicians say what we, the people, want to hear. This administration has a policy against Ukraine targeting anything on Russian territory, regardless of whose weapons are used. By my way of thinking, that policy is fundamentally incompatible with Ukrainian victory.
