Blinken Reveals Whether Ukraine Will Be Able to Survive Without US Support If Trump Wins

Any new administration will have to take into account the strong bipartisan support for Ukraine in Congress in its decisions.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that if the next US president changes policy, Ukraine will be able to survive thanks to the support of other allies.

As the Associated Press writes , the official thus commented in his speech at the Aspen Security Forum on the possibility of the victory of the former head of the United States and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in the elections in November.

According to him, any new administration will have to take into account the strong bilateral support for Ukraine in Congress in its decisions. At the same time, Blinken noted that although each administration is capable of implementing its own policy, there are also security agreements that the US, the EU and more than 20 countries around the world, including NATO partners and Japan, have signed with Ukraine.

“If we were to back away from this… I suspect that would be possible, but fortunately there are over 20 other countries that are doing the same thing,” the secretary of state said.

In addition, in his opinion, Ukraine is on a course that will ensure that it “stands on its own feet in a military, economic and democratic sense.”

War in Ukraine – Trump’s position

In May 2023, Trump first said he would end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours if he became president, a claim he continued to repeat during the campaign.

“I’m going to get a settlement very quickly… I’m going to have a settlement within 24 hours. Standing before you today, I’m the only candidate who can make that promise. I’m going to prevent World War III, which is what we’re heading towards,” Trump said.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented critically on this statement.

“The question is, what is the price and who will pay? I don’t mean that his (Trump, – UNIAN) idea is to make us pay. But if he wants to do it within 24 hours, the easy way is to make us pay,” he was indignant.

Military and political observer Alexander Kovalenko noted that Donald Trump is a vain, narcissistic person, and if he wins the election, an unprecedented historical prospect will open up for him to become one of those presidents who would be involved in a victory on the level of World War II, and even in the context of the US-Russia confrontation.

This bipartisan support in Congress is the silver lining if Biden gets to stay in the presidential race.
