“Birds of Magyar” hit the Russian Orion drone base in Crimea

14.11.2025

Ukrainian defenders struck a Russian base of Orion strike and reconnaissance drones in the village of Kirovske, which is in temporarily occupied Crimea. This time, operators of the 1st Separate Center of Unmanned Systems “Birds of the Magyar” distinguished themselves.

This was reported by the commander of the SBS, Robert Brovdy “Magyar”. He specified that the defeat occurred on the night of November 13, and released the corresponding video.

What did the Magyar say?

The Orion UAV is considered one of the enemy’s most dangerous drones.

“This scabbard is a carrier of air bombs and air-to-ground missiles, hangs in the air for up to 24 hours at an altitude of up to 7,500 m, has a wingspan of 16.3 m. This is a valuable and rare stray,” said the SBS commander.

He recalled how his subordinates ” knocked such a parrot out of the air on September 13. ”

“Tonight (11/13/25) the “birds” of the 1st Separate SBS Center (this is the transformed 14th SBS Regiment) finally pecked at the den,” said Magyar.

What is known about the Orion UAV?

“Orion” (aka “Pedestrian”) is an enemy strike and reconnaissance UAV from the sanctioned Russian group of companies “Kronstadt”. Propaganda media loudly call this drone the “killer” Bayraktar.

This is a medium-altitude, long-endurance drone. The Orion has been in service with the Russian army since 2020.

The onboard equipment is designed for  visual, radar or radio reconnaissance with the possibility of long-term patrolling  in a designated area.

  • The weight of the drone is 1150 kg.
  • Combat load 200 kg.

It should be noted that Ukrainian defenders have shot down these drones before. For example, in August 2024, such  an enemy drone  was shot down in the Kursk direction . And in February 2023,  “Orion” was  destroyed in the Kherson direction .

But such unimpressive statistics are not due to any “unique” characteristics of this UAV, but rather to its cost. The occupiers rarely use such drones.

As OBOZ.UA reported, dozens of explosions and machine gun fire were heard in occupied Donetsk on the evening of November 13. Local residents reported a swarm of drones attacking industrial facilities and the city’s energy infrastructure. The sounds of UAVs flying overhead and a series of explosions were heard in several areas at once.
