In the updated Forbes world billionaire ranking, 24 entrepreneurs previously considered Russian were listed as representatives of other countries, the Agency noted. Such adjustments are usually made at the request of the businessmen themselves. According to calculations by The Moscow Times, the combined wealth of these billionaires is almost $110 billion.
Thus, the co-founder of Alfa Group Alexey Kuzmichev ($7.5 billion) is listed as a billionaire from France, the former president of Alfa Bank Petr Aven ($4.7 billion) represents Latvia, the founder of the investment and construction corporation Inteko Elena Baturina ($1.3 billion) is now an entrepreneur from Great Britain, the former vice-president of Lukoil Leonid Fedun ($10.4 billion) is associated with Monaco, and the shareholder of Akron Vyacheslav Kantor ($9.5 billion) is associated with Israel. The co-founder of Yandex Arkady Volozh ($1.2 billion) and the former co-owner of Rambler Group Alexander Mamut ($1.4 billion) also represent Israel.
Most of the billionaires who changed countries in the 2025 ranking now appear as representatives of Switzerland: Mikhail Prokhorov ($10.7 billion), Egor Kulkov (4.1 billion), Vladimir and Nikolay Fartushnyak ($1.9 billion and $1.5 billion), Alexander Mikhalsky ($1.3 billion), Oleg Boyko ($1.5 billion), Andrey Rappoport ($1.2 billion), Yuri Shefler (1.1 billion)
Other changes: Andrey Melnichenko ($17.4 billion) is now a representative of the UAE, Alisher Usmanov ($16.7 billion) of Uzbekistan, Gavril Yushvaev ($1.9 billion) of Israel, Michel Litvak ($2.5 billion) of the UAE, Sergey Lomakin ($1.2 billion) of Cyprus, Gleb Fetisov ($1.3 billion) of Cyprus, Artem Khachatryan ($1.6 billion) of Cyprus, Dmitry Rybolovlev ($6.4 billion) of Monaco. Denis Shtengelov ($1.4 billion) is now associated with Australia.
The trend of changing citizenship among Russian billionaires has intensified significantly since the start of the war in Ukraine, when Russian passports became a serious obstacle to doing business in the West due to sanctions. At least six billionaires have officially renounced their Russian citizenship, including Revolut co-founder Nikolai Storonsky, Freedom holding owner Timur Turlov, and DST Global investment company founder Yuri Milner.
