The American leader said that Republicans are making a mistake by opposing the aid package.
US President Joe Biden said he is ready to meet with House Speaker Mike Johnson. He intends to discuss the bill on assistance to Ukraine .
“Of course, I will be glad to meet with him if he has something to say,” Reuters quotes the US President
Biden, who has sharply criticized his likely election rival Donald Trump and other Republicans for threatening to withdraw protection from NATO allies unless they pay for common defense, said Republicans were making a big mistake by trying to hide from the Russian threat by “walking away from NATO”.
“It’s just shocking,” he said. “I’ve never seen anything like it.”
Biden said he hoped the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny in Russia’s Arctic colony would push Republicans to support aid to Ukraine, but said: “I’m not sure it will change anything.”
Biden also said the United States was considering imposing additional sanctions on Russia over Navalny’s death.
“We already have sanctions, but we are considering additional restrictions,” he said.

I don’t know if this will be of any good, but it’s about time for Biden to accept the offer. At least he can say he tried if nothing comes of it.

Most prominently, Leo2 tanks. Have you already forgotten that? I do think they could do more – like sending those 80.000 70mm rockets asap – but there’s much worse Nato members than the Canadians.
If Biden was truly serious about supporting Ukraine enough to actually defeat Russia, it seems he would have met with Speaker Johnson months ago. It is extremely typical for the President and the Speaker particularly if they are of different parties to directly negotiate particularly on crucial issues that will require politically difficult compromises by both parties.
Given the size of Canada’s economy, Canada’s “huge” military support of $2.4 billion is really pathetic.
Canadian economy is roughly 1/13 th the size of the U.S.’s, half of Germany’s, and 2/3 rds of the United Kingdom. US has given roughly $45 billion is military support and a total of $75 billion to Ukraine since the invasion. United Kingdom has given roughly $7 billion in military support alone. Germany roughly through 2024 will have given $12 bilion in military aide alone.
Time for Canada to step up but in Canada’s defense France has been a bigger talker with even less actual military.
