Biden inspires Putin and scares the “weak-minded” like Scholz, – The Economist

The ban on deep strikes against the Russian Federation is unjustified, since Russia will not really be able to respond to it with anything other than petty mischief

The American veto on deep strikes against the Russian Federation inspires Vladimir Putin to continue aggression and at the same time cools Ukraine’s partners in their desire to continue aid. This is stated in the editorial articles of the authoritative magazine The Economist .

The publication emphasizes that Russia terrorizes Ukraine every day with missiles and bombs, trying to destroy the energy system on the eve of winter. Ukraine proposed a “proportionate legal response to these illegal attacks” – to use Western missiles to hit military facilities in Russia from which this shelling is being conducted. For now, America rejects “this reasonable request.”

As the publication notes, America not only does not allow the use of its own ATACMS missiles for attacks on the Russian Federation, but also blocks the use of European Storm Shadow and SCALP missiles because they contain American components. Video of the day

“Mr. Biden says no. He should change his mind. (…) Unfortunately, America is holding back because of an inappropriate fear of escalation. (…) Russia is already doing everything there is possible, except using nuclear weapons, and crossing that threshold (using nuclear weapons – UNIAN) would cause outrage, including among its allies, such as China,” The Economist emphasizes.

According to the authors of the publication, if Ukraine is allowed to strike deep into the Russian Federation, the maximum that Putin is capable of reacting to is attempts to harm the interests of the West elsewhere, for example, by providing weapons to Iran or the Houthis. This would be a certain problem, but in the end, the containment of Ukraine only contributes to Russian aggression in Europe, according to The Economist.

“Biden’s caution rewards Putin’s recklessness. What’s more, it rubs off on other weak-minded people like Olaf Scholz, the German chancellor, thus dividing NATO. Mr. Putin sees this rift and concludes that the West is tired of war and is seeking a deal that will to his benefit,” the publication warns.

  1. I will drink the better part of a bottle of Glenfarclas when Biden, this most cowardly of cowards that had ever lived in the White House, finally ends his presidency, which was one of America’s worst, from beginning to the bitter end.
I will drink the rest when the other fool, the one in Berlin, will have to vacate his post forever next year.
