The United States is providing Ukraine with additional defense assistance worth $ 800 million.
This was announced by US President Joe Biden at a briefing at the White House.
He reminded that last year the United States provided $ 650 million in defense aid to Ukraine, and also allocated an additional $ 350 million for this purpose.
“Last week, my administration provided $ 200 million to keep this flow going, and we are stepping up our next defense aid to help Ukraine contain Russia, $ 800 million, a total of $ 1 billion in Ukraine this week,” Biden said.
He clarified that the assistance includes providing Ukraine with air defense systems, anti-tank missiles and other weapons.
It was reported that the $ 800 million in security assistance to Ukraine is part of a $ 13.6 billion US aid package that includes assistance to both Ukraine and US allies in Europe.
It will be recalled that on March 15, US President Joe Biden signed a law allocating $ 13.6 billion as an emergency package of military and humanitarian aid in connection with the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
