US President Joe Biden apologized to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi for the six-month delay in aid to Ukraine.
The US President said this at the beginning of the meeting with the President of Ukraine in Paris. “You didn’t give up, you didn’t give up at all, you keep fighting in a way that’s just amazing – and we’re not going to walk away from you. I’m sorry for weeks of not understanding what should have been approved in terms of funding because we had problems with the approval of the law,” Biden emphasized.
In this regard, as the US president noted, some very conservative members of Congress delayed the approval of the law with additional funding for Ukraine, but, in the end, this law was supported.
“Since then, including today, I have announced six significant funding packages. Today I am also signing an additional $225 million package to help you restore the electric grid,” Biden said.
He assured Zelenskyi that the United States will act on the side of Ukraine. The American leader added that Ukraine is a stronghold in the fight against aggression.

Since October 2023, the US Congress has been unable to satisfy the request of the US President regarding additional support for Ukraine. Controversy over the approval of the aid continued until April, when the House of Representatives passed its own bill, which would be supported by both houses of Congress and signed by Biden.
