One person was killed and 11 more were injured as a result of new shelling of Belgorod on the afternoon of March 17, said the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov.
According to the official, the deceased local resident was in the parking lot at the time of the shooting and died on the spot from his injuries before the ambulance arrived. Of the 11 victims, eight people were hospitalized in city hospital No. 2. “In the most serious condition is a woman with a shrapnel wound to the chest. Doctors are doing everything in their power to save her life,” Gladkov wrote in a telegram.
During the shelling in Belgorod, 36 apartments in 17 multi-storey buildings, nine private houses, three outbuildings and 12 cars were damaged. In the Belgorod region, damage was recorded in nine private houses.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that on the afternoon of March 17, air defense systems shot down 11 Ukrainian drones over the Belgorod region. The department also stated that they shot down a Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter over the Sumy region, flying towards the village of Kozinki, Belgorod region.
Earlier in the morning of March 17, Belgorod was also under fire, as a result of which a private residential building was damaged. A 16-year-old girl died, her father was hospitalized with injuries.
